The centre has been open for 10 years and is run by a committed group of trained volunteers. If you prefer to see a male volunteer, they are available on Mondays.
The centre offers a wide range of information including advice on benefits as well as hats and scarves fitting. -

The Courtyard Centre based by the main entrance of Sandwell Hospital, offers a wide range of cancer information and support services to patients with cancer, their families and carers. Services are also provided to any individual within the Sandwell and Heart of Birmingham communities seeking information on cancer or related issues.
The centre is run by trained volunteers with support from specialist nurses. Services provided by the Courtyard Centre include a wide range of free information, a lending library, the facility to listen and discuss issues and concerns, wig fitting services, a range of headwear for purchase, as well as links with local community support services, such as welfare and benefits advisors. -

The Macmillan Information and Support Service is led by the Macmillan and Physical Activity Programme Lead, Catherine Fletcher is available on the 1st floor on Thursday afternoons, from 2pm until 4.30pm.The centre provides free information and support services for anyone affected by cancer. You may have cancer yourself, care for a friend or relative, work as a health care professional or simply want to know more about cancer. The centre is open Monday – Friday between 10am and 4pm when the Health Exchanges' Health Supporters are available to help you find the information and support you need.
The centre can arrange for people with, or affected by, cancer to obtain information about cancer in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There is time to share concerns, or to ask questions and get up to date information. They have a comprehensive range of leaflets, books, audio and video tapes on the subject of cancer, as well as access to the Internet. The centre will be able to guide you through information materials and websites focusing on cancer and other health-related issues, if you need assistance. However, they also provide face-to-face support; offer a listening ear or signposting to a patient support group in the area.

Located next to the reception in the main entrance, the Health Information Centre provides a free information service. The centre is a relaxed and informal space where patients can take time to look for information on a wide range of subjects. Internet searching facilities are also available and they also have a range of services for people with additional needs.Information about healthy lifestyle choices, medical conditions and treatments are also provided. Details of support and self help groups, along with information on financial support is also available.
Health Information Centre staff will do their best to obtain any further information which is not immediately available in the centre.

Walsall Palliative Care Centre is an information and support service for cancer and palliative care patients, their carers, friends and families. This includes an outreach information and support service providing one to one and group support; organising and engaging in cancer awareness, prevention and screening events to increase public awareness of importance of NHS screening programmes and being aware of signs and symptoms of cancer.
Complementary therapy service
The centre offers a range of complementary therapies such as aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and relaxation for patients in the Walsall area. Evening appointments are available on request. The aim of this service is to offer patients and their carers a range of complementary health interventions in a healthcare setting. The Patrick Room provides information and support to people with cancer and their families in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is also a drop in centre which provides a variety of leaflets and books, as well as access to the internet.The service is delivered by a professional and experienced team, which is supported by trained volunteers. To recieve a cancer diagnosis can be a frightening, even a shocking experience. To be told that a loved one has cancer can be equally distressing. A patient and/or carer may need a lot of information, practical advice and support to be helped through. These needs will vary at different stages, from diagnosis, through treatment and afterwards and the Patrick Room can help give support to patients and their carers throughout each stage of their cancer journey.
