  • Full network roll-out of CPORT (chemotherapy planning online resource tool)


    Aim:
    Enable all chemotherapy units across the network to use CPORT to aid with chemotherapy planning. CPORT is a web-based simulator which enables cancer professionals and healthcare managers the ability to model cancer service and service improvements in a risk-free, online environment in a matter of minutes and hours (www.cport.co.uk).

    Objectives:

    • Phase 1 – to roll out CPORT in all 6 chemotherapy units across the network by completing data collection and entry exercises.
    • Phase 2 – to train unit and trust staff on the system and to explore, test and implement ideas for improvement.

    Progress update:

    • CPORT has been installed in five out of six acute chemotherapy units across the network and the one community chemotherapy unit.
    • The national facilitator is working with the remaining unit to finalise introduction.
    • Majority of management staff now trained.
    • Unit staff are now empowered to use the system.

    BookWise upgrade in oncology and haematology units


    Aim:
    To update current BookWise oncology scheduling systems to the new version in all chemotherapy day units across the network.

    Objectives:

    • To update current patient scheduling systems in all chemotherapy day units across the network.
    • To train day unit staff in the use of the new version of the system.
    • To ensure that staff at varying levels of the organisation are aware of all reports that BookWise can produce activity and waiting times plus others.
    • To ensure all staff can produce and access reports.
    • To assist with the standardisation of practice where multiple units exist within one trust.

    Progress update:

    • All acute and community chemotherapy units now using BookWise version3.
    • New reports are gradually being installed on all systems.
    • New excel download for the systemic anti cancer therapy dataset is being created and will be released prior to the April 2012.
