    In addition to the ongoing data collection that forms the programme of key performance indicators fixed term audit projects are also undertaken.
    Current projects include:

    • Breast reconstruction: audit of practice (commenced July 2011)
    • Oeseophgo gastric cancer neo-adjuvant chemotherapy: audit of practice (commenced December 09)
    • Surgical discharge compliance: upper GI cancer (commenced October 2010)

    • Bisphosphonates: audit of the use in Myeloma (2004)

    • Colonoscopy completion and polyp detection rates (2010)
    • Emergency admissions of lung cancer patients (2010/11)
    • Malignant melanoma: audit of diagnostic and treatment pathway (2010/11)
    • Mastectomy and breast reconstruction (2010)
    • Metastatic spinal cord compression: audit of the care pathways for patients receiving treatment in the Pan Birmingham Cancer Network (2009)
    • Muscle invasive bladder cancer: audit of treatment practice (2006)
    • Neutropenic sepsis: availability of designated beds for haematology patients (2007, 2008)
    • Paediatric shared care units: audit of communication (2006)
    • Sentinel lymph node biopsy: practice and outcomes in breast cancer (2009/2010)
    • Suspected liver metastases: referral of cases to the specialist liver MDT (2011)
