Key performance indicators have been agreed by network site specific groups as a means of monitoring the quality and outcomes of cancer treatment, reviewing consistency between provider organisations, and providing evidence that cancer services are safe, equitable and deliver good outcomes for patients.

Key performance indicators provide a timely insight into local cancer services. The relevant NICE improving outcomes guidance and national cancer audit measures are taken into consideration when compiling the network site specific group key performance indicators. Where national guidance or audit does not exist the network site specific groups have identified measures they consider to be clinically relevant .
